Frequently Asked Questioins

What is psychotherapy?

Psychotherapy is more than learning coping skills and looking for a "quick fix". Psychotherapy is a team effort, where you and your therapist work together to process your feelings, connect to your emotions, and explore current and past events that contribute to your mental wellness. Psychotherapy is most effective when you have an open and trusting relationship with your therapist. Your therapist's job is to come along side you in a safe and positive environment to support you, encourage you, and challenge you, rather than make decisions for you or give advice. True psychotherapy can be expected to take 6+ months, depending on the individuals level of commitment and presenting concerns at hand.
